How long do PMU brows last?
Results typically last between 1 and 3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Annual touch-ups are recommended to maintain the colour and shape at their best.
How do they heal?
Full healing takes approximately 4 weeks and happens in three phases.
PHASE 1 — DAYS 1 TO 3
Your brows will appear darker immediately after the procedure. This is completely normal.
PHASE 2 — AROUND WEEK 1
The brows will begin to scab. Do not pick at them — this can cause uneven healing and scarring. Allow the scabs to fall away naturally.
PHASE 3 — WEEKS 2 TO 4
Once the scabbing clears, the brows will appear significantly lighter. This is expected. The colour will return as the skin continues to heal beneath the surface.
Any unevenness or lightness will be addressed at your perfecting session at 6 to 8 weeks.
How long does the appointment take?
Please allow 2 to 3 hours for your brow appointment. This includes consultation, mapping, the procedure itself, and aftercare guidance. Some clients may require additional time to achieve the desired shape and colour.
Does it hurt?
Pain tolerance varies from person to person. An anaesthetic is applied before and during the procedure to minimise discomfort. Most clients experience a mild sensation similar to tweezing for a short period. Any tenderness after the appointment typically settles within a day or two.
How many sessions will I need?
All PMU treatments are a two-session process. A perfecting session at 6 to 8 weeks is reccomeneded and is an essential part of achieving the final result. After that, most clients are happy with annual to 18 month touch-ups to maintain their brows.
Can I book if I have existing PMU?
If your existing work has faded significantly, we may be able to work over it. Please send a clear photo of your bare brows (no filters) via email or message, details can be found on our contact page before booking so we can assess suitability.
Should I book a consultation first?
Yes — all new PMU clients begin with a complimentary consultation. This is the best way to discuss your goals, assess your skin, and make sure the treatment is right for you before committing.
What should I avoid before my appointment?
Please avoid the following for at least 7 days before your appointment: antibiotics, alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen, and other blood-thinning medications. Do not discontinue any prescribed medication without consulting your doctor first.
Can I have my brows waxed or threaded beforehand?
Avoid if possible, we want to see your natural hair growth as much as possible. Any waxing, threading, or tweezing should be done at least 48 hours before your appointment. Please do not resume hair removal for at least two weeks after your procedure.
What should I wear or bring?
Wear comfortable clothes and come with your brows filled in as you normally would. This gives us a clear guide to your preferred style and helps us design a shape that feels natural and familiar to you.
Will my brows look very different straight after?
Yes — expect the colour to appear darker and bolder immediately after the procedure. This is completely normal and part of the healing process. The final, healed result will be softer and more natural. We recommend avoiding any important social events in the first few days after treatment.
What should I avoid after my appointment?
For two weeks following your procedure, please avoid: direct sun exposure, tanning beds, saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools, salt water, hot steamy showers, and any skin creams or lotions on the treated area unless recommended by us.
Can I wear makeup after?
Please avoid applying any makeup to the treated area after your procedure. Full aftercare instructions will be provided at your appointment.
My brows are itchy — is this normal?
Yes, some itching is completely normal during the healing process. Do not scratch, pick, or peel the treated area. This can cause uneven healing, scarring, and loss of pigment.
How do I protect my brows long term?
Apply SPF daily — sun exposure is the primary cause of premature pigment fading. If you are planning any chemical skin treatments, laser procedures, or MRI scans, please inform your practitioner of your PMU in advance to avoid the treatment area.
Proper aftercare is essential to ensure optimal healing, colour retention, and long-term results. Please read the instructions below carefully and follow them closely.
What to expect
Your brows will appear darker and more defined immediately after treatment. This is completely normal. Over the following days, the colour will gradually soften as the skin heals. Mild redness, tenderness, and light flaking are also normal parts of the healing process.
First night and following morning
Gently wash your brows using a mild soap that does not contain any active skincare ingredients. Pat dry carefully with a clean towel. Do not rub the area.
First 7–14 days
• Keep the area clean and dry
• Avoid touching, scratching, or picking at the brows
• Do not apply makeup, skincare, or oils directly to the treated area
• Avoid swimming, saunas, steam rooms, and excessive sweating
• Avoid sun exposure and tanning
• Sleep on your back where possible to minimise friction
What to avoid during healing
• Facials, peels, lasers, or aesthetic treatments near the brow area
• Retinol, acids, or exfoliants on or around the brows
• Excessive moisture or prolonged water exposure
Healing timeline
Surface healing typically takes 7–14 days, however pigment continues to settle beneath the skin for up to 4 weeks. During this time, some areas may appear lighter or uneven, this is completely normal and will be assessed at your touch-up appointment.
Important
Picking or scratching the brows can lead to pigment loss, patchy healing, and scarring. Please allow the skin to heal naturally.
If you have any concerns during the healing process or notice anything unusual, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can contact us via phone, email or chat link.
